Preparation is the key to a successful portrait session. During your pre-session consultation we'll talk about what type of portraits you are interested in and who will be included in the session. We'll cover your style and how to include special details in your session. I love to hear your ideas and suggestions for what you would like to see in your portraits. We'll also choose your location… a nearby park, your home… We'll take care of the nitty gritty, your portrait contract and creation fee, to secure a session date and time and we'll discuss clothing options.
You will also get a chance to see some samples of display products, including wall art, albums, image boxes, holiday cards, birth announcements, to showcase some of your favorite images from your session. As our generation transitions to social media, I still enjoy producing tactile prints and other tangible products. I strive to bring you the highest quality products on the market.
Plan to call and book a consultation 1-2 months before the session will take place due to the availability and creation process.
I've done my job from scouting the location... prop design to outfit approval.
Your job is to sit back, relax and let me do my thing. I'm very laid back in my style. To help loosen everyone up... we'll talk, we'll play, we'll laugh. A no rush approach lends itself to more natural images. Plan on setting aside 1 ½-2 hrs of your time, to create these images. Many times we'll vary from our original idea and create something entirely new.
Being prepared for your session is the best foundation to a great portrait. Do you want to look great, feel great and enjoy the session? The best way to do that is being properly prepared.
With a background in Art...photography and graphic design, Karen will sort the good and the bad images from your session. Looking for odd expressions, making color corrections, exposure adjustments, narrowing down to the best images for your viewing.
This set of "first draft" images will be available to view approximately 1-2 weeks after your session. Many clients like to take a "first look" at these images in an online web gallery. Please ask for details.
I'm good at this, and can help you choose some products/ideas on how to display them...desktop portraits vs wall portraits, collections vs collage prints, image boxes, albums, greeting cards, etc….
It's a good idea to take a look around your home before this appointment. Try to keep in mind how you would like to display your images, look at wall space vs a display shelf/sofa table. A good suggestion is to take a picture (your cell phone works just fine) of the wall/space where you would like to display your images.
Please keep in mind that these images are only previews, "first drafts". You can be assured that all finished portraits will be perfected.
Preview appointments typically last 1 to 1 ½ hours. We suggest you arrange a babysitter for small children. All ordered images will be archived and any image not ordered will be purged.
Portrait enhancement is done on each ordered image. This enhancement includes removing minor blemishes, under eye circles, and stray hairs. Enhancements may also include creative enhancement techniques, softening wrinkles and brightening teeth and eyes. Additional charges may apply for more extensive retouching.
I will carefully inspect for imperfections, then frame and package your portraits. You will be notified via email they are ready for pickup.
